Actively representing port operators and promoting port logisticsThe Finnish Port Operators Association is a national employers' and lobbying organization representing the interests of stevedoring and terminal services and other materials handling and logistics operators in Finnish ports. The Association's mission is to protect and improve operating conditions in the sector to ensure that its members can conduct their business profitably and can constantly develop their operations.
NEWSAKT (Transport Workers’ Union) has decided on an overtime ban in Finnish ports starting 2nd February 2010 at 06.00 am. The overtime ban will delay loading and discharging of vessels in ports. AKT has further called for a stevedores' strike in all Finnish ports starting 19th February 2010 at 06.00 am. unless parties reach an agreement until then. The strike would practically stop all transportation of cargoes through Finnish ports. Short local illegal strikes are obviously to be expected in several harbours before the official strike. --------- Vuosaari harbour in Helsinki is operative since 24.11.2008.
