NEWS

AKT (Transport Workers’ Union) has decided on an overtime ban in Finnish ports starting 2nd February 2010 at 06.00 am. The overtime ban will delay loading and discharging of vessels in ports.

AKT has further called for a stevedores' strike in all Finnish ports starting 19th February 2010 at 06.00 am. unless parties reach an agreement until then. The strike would practically stop all transportation of cargoes through Finnish ports.

Short local illegal strikes are obviously to be expected in several harbours before the official strike.
